Do I Need Supplements?

Dysbiosis. Have you heard of it? Yeah, me neither. At least not until recently. I had also never even given probiotics any thought except one time when I was on an antibiotic my doctor suggested getting some drugstore probiotics. So I wanted to speak to those of you that are like I was- thinking I didn’t need any supplements.

Dysbiosis means an unbalanced gut. It can be caused by any number of things. Some of the things that cause dysbiosis are:

  • poor diet
  • excess sugar
  • antibiotics
  • alcohol
  • stress
  • lack of sleep

Are you familiar with any of those? 🙂 3 out of 5 adults suffer from dysbiosis and it’s not a surprise after reading through that list.

If your gut is out of balance your health is too. And you are feeling it. You may not realize that the symptoms you are experiencing are related to your gut health but that is where it all begins. Our gut is largely responsible for the critical functions of our body from our physical health to our emotional and mental health.

This is where supplements come in. If you are spending a lot of time outside yet not breathing in polluted air, getting plenty of sleep, eating a well-balanced (no sugar!) diet, and living a stress-free life then you may not need supplements. But for all the rest of us we probably need them.
